A Father’s Gift

He planted a tree

For his daughter to know

That just like it

She would grow

He cared for each

With a love so strong

The tree and the girl

The seeds he’d sown

Side by side

He dreamed they’d grow

But, sadly, those futures

He’d never know

Next to the tree

The girl still stands

Reflecting on the gifts

From her father’s hands

Though time has taken

His voice, his face

The tree, like his love,

Remains in place
